Roads and Parking

Roads and Pavements

Cressington Park is a private park, and our roads are not adopted by the Local Authority, so we are responsible for their maintenance. It is therefore in all our interests to see that our roads are not damaged by careless use, by building contractors, deliveries and other services. There is a weight limit on the railway bridges of 3 tons, which should be communicated to any building contractors or delivery companies used. There is also a 20mph speed limit throughout the Park, and traffic calming measures (“speed bumps”) to help reduce the speed of traffic.

Please also note that driving along the pathways or mounting kerbs is not allowed under any circumstances.

NB: The Highway Code applies on all our roads even though they are unadopted.

The pavement surface requires regular maintenance and is fragile so must not be use for parking vehicles, or for supporting skips, or storing building or other materials. Please see Building work and renovations for more details.

Parking and Permits

The park operates a parking permit system managed by a private company. The Controlled Parking Zone (‘CPZ’) covers:

  • The Esplanade and the bottom of Knowsley, Salisbury and Eaton Roads where they meet The Esplanade; and
  • All roads north of Grosvenor Road.

You will need a resident’s or visitor’s permit to park on the road in the CPZ without being issued with a penalty. For further details on regulations and penalties, please see Parking Regulations May 2021(PDF)

For permits and more information available to residents please contact the trustees.

Residents are requested to park their cars on their own property if possible, for obvious safety and security reasons.

If vehicles are left outside the property, they must not be parked on the pavement. Also they must not be parked directly opposite gateways, as this makes access very difficult because of the narrowness of the roads.
